What services are available?

SAGE offers a range of services to support gifted learners.

  1. Support in your current classroom:  Through differentiation, your child’s teacher may offer alternative activities, inquiry projects or combination of working more deeply and/or quickly in certain subjects. (do we want to add a link to the adaptations page?)
  2. Working with experts: Your child may have the opportunity to work with a mentor in elementary school, or participate in an academic work placement during high school.
  3. Events for the gifted: Your child may participate in special pull-out programs, like Future Problem Solving.
  4. Extended placement in a classroom for the gifted: Your child may be offered placement in a congregated program.  The elementary locations are Caswell, Greystone and Silverspring.  Students are placed in a specific school is based on the neighborhood you live in. In high school, students may apply to the program of their choice regardless of neighborhood. The Collegiate programs for the gifted include:
  • Evan Hardy: gifted programming starting in grade 9 in 2014, expanding to grades 10-12 over the next three years. Evan Hardy also offers Advanced Placement classes and the opportunity for Academic Work Placement.
  • Walter Murray Collegiate: gifted programming for grades 9-12, including independent study for credit on a subject of the student’s choice and the opportunity for Academic Work Placement.
