Brevoort Park School is a caring, family-oriented school in the southeast part of Saskatoon. We are a peanut/nut-alert school, as some members of our school family have life-threatening allergies. The safety of our students is of utmost importance, and our Care Partner Program strives to nurture healthy and meaningful relationships between our Kindergarten and Grade 8 grade groupings. We believe that students within our Brevoort Park family feel encouraged to learn and grow academically, socially, and personally everyday.

We are pleased to be able to offer Core French for students in Kindergarten to Grade 8, as well as a strong music education program for all students. Band begins at grade 6. An English as an Additional Language (EAL) program serves to support the many new Canadian families in Saskatoon's southeast. We value diversity through inclusiveness. We are also fortunate to house a bilingual German Preschool called Hansel and Gretel Preschool, as well as an Early Learning Centre run by the Parents' Child Development Co-opertive. The YMCA operates our Before and After School program in our small gym/multipurpose room.
Our school's planning document outlines two main priorities for our school: Literacy for Life/Just Read and Wellness. We value intellectual curiosity and lifelong learning. Our Literacy for Life initiative sees us using the inquiry method in our classrooms, as well as the Picture Word Inductive Method (PWIM) in our primary classes. We also maintain a strong focus on enhancing student writing skills at all grade levels. Student engagement is of vital importance. Also, we collect data on the number of minutes read weekly by each student outside of school hours. We strive to instil a love of reading within our students. We encourage them to set personal reading goals. Our second priority area -- the Wellness Program -- centres around the following: i) Healthy Minds; ii) Healthy Bodies; and iii) Healthy Environment. Character Education, as well as Michelle Borba's seven virtues, are a large part of our Healthy Minds focus.
In addition to our rigorous academic programs aimed to meet student needs, we offer a wide range of extra-curricular programs that focus on sports, arts education, literacy, chess, and community service. We are proud of our student partnerships with Extendicare residents, citizens at Preston Park Retirement Residence, the Forestry Farm (Zoo Club), and the Food Bank (Caroling in the Community).
Our school benefits greatly from the ongoing support extended to us by our parent/community groups - i.e., Brevoort Park School Community Council, The Friends of Brevoort Park, and Brevoort Park Community Association. These parent/community groups provide integral support for our literacy and wellness initiatives financially. They also work diligently to plan fun family activities, such as Reading Around the World Evening, Camp Out With a Good Book, Book and a Bagel Mornings, Uniting our Community in Numbers Math Evening, and Fun Night. We greatly appreciate the daily support offered by parents, grandparents, and community volunteers. We extend an open invitation to parents/guardians to volunteer and become involved in the life of our school. Our school culture continues to be rich and meaningful when our families are a key part of school operations.
Our recently upgraded school and community park features new creative playground equipment, beautiful walking paths, a skating rink, and a toboggan hill. We are proud to say that our school facility is wheelchair accessible.
