École College Park School is a dual-stream English and French Immersion school on Saskatoon's eastside. Learning is our priority. We take pride in our multicultural community. It is our goal to ensure that all cultures are respected and valued. Students learn about different cultures and beliefs from our diverse community. Teachers invite parents to share with students knowledge about their culture, special holidays and traditions so that they can learn from, and about, each other.
Academically, we believe that having our students be literate and enthusiastic about reading will open doors in the future. We proudly boast that our school holds the number one spot in library circulation statistics for Saskatoon Public Schools having the greatest number of books borrowed per student and staff member. Since the beginning of this school year, our school population has borrowed 22,326 library books and reading materials. Different reading activities at École College Park School make reading a part of our school's culture. Reading Camps, Book Scouts, Book Buddies, and Accelerated Reader are all different ways of engaging students in reading that promote reading and support Saskatoon Public Schools' Literacy for Life initiative.
Character education is woven through many subject areas at École College Park School through the teaching of the meaning of values. Our senior students take on leadership roles in the school which model excellent behaviour for younger students. Our Progressive Discipline Plan strives to help students make better choices in behaviour so they can learn how best to get along with others. Our Random Acts of Kindness Club helps students in Grades 3 and 4 develop skills in understanding the impact of being kind and practicing kindness. We have engaged in a partnership with neighbouring Sherbrooke Nursing Home for many years that sees small groups of our students visit the Home to work and play with seniors. This initiative gives our students an opportunity to gain understanding about the residents of the Home and to make a difference in the lives of others.
We want our students to be good citizens in our community, in our city, and in the world. For a long time now, our school has championed the cause of those in the world in need. Our school staff is unified and stalwart in creating a learning environment that makes students aware of the differences that exist in the world and how "Together We Can Make a Difference". Each year, we conduct food drives for Saskatoon's Food Bank and for the Salvation Army. We have raised money, collected school supplies, engaged in environmental solutions, and supported endangered species in other parts of the world.
Our school motto is: Sharing the Journey of Learning. We have a close relationship with our School Community Council (SCC). Our school and our parents participate in open discussions around what we value for our students. Our SCC financially supports initiatives tied to our School Strategic Plan priorities in literacy and technology. Together, we provide a framework for our children to learn about themselves and the world in which they live. Together, we prepare our children for the future. Together, we truly are "Sharing the Journey of Learning."
