About Our School

Backing onto the expansive Lakeview Park in southeast Saskatoon, École Lakeview School offers students the opportunity to learn in either of Canada's official languages English or French. We look forward to enhancing our language of instruction offerings this fall when we become one of only two Saskatchewan schools to offer Late French Immersion (Grade 6 entry). Students from various communities surrounding Lakeview are provided transportation to participate in our immersion programs.

École Lakeview School is a mid-sized school with approximately 400 students, from Kindergarten to Grade 8. Our dedicated and experienced teaching staff offers strong academic programs across all grade levels. Our two current strategic priorities include continued growth for students in literacy and mathematics understandings. Visits to our school by several authors, coupled with initiatives like Mathematics Fun Night, home reading programs, reading clubs, telemedia involvement, and Care Partner activities are just some of the ways we promote students personal growth within the classroom, around the school, and within our school community.

Our school maintains a strong focus on experiential learning, making good use of the surrounding park and other outdoor facilities. Lakeview also celebrates the aesthetic talents of students, offering an impressive band and arts education program supplemented with an array of extracurricular performing opportunities. Other ways to become involved beyond the classroom include Space Club, Chess Club, and a large variety of sports teams.

École Lakeview School is proud of its strong sense of community celebrating diversity. Care Partner activities involving the pairing of older students with younger students happen on a regular basis. Students develop a strong commitment to helping each other and building a peaceful environment. Opportunities abound for students to take on leadership roles through such initiatives as Leadership Corp, Destination Conservation, Astounding Announcers, or by assisting the librarian, working with weekly hot lunches, or by being part of our schools recycling group.

By working to meet the needs of our families, we are now home to the Gingerbread Preschool, the Extended School Day Program (7:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.), and the KinderCare Program (for kindergarten children who stay at École Lakeview School beyond their regular school day). Because we see ourselves as a family, we make sure to include children from these programs in as many of our school day activities as possible.

We invite you to visit École Lakeview School and meet with us. We are proud of our students achievements. We are, likewise, proud of the safe and caring environment our school provides so students can achieve to their fullest potential.
