About Our School

Prince Philip School is a "small town school" located in Saskatoon's growing southeast corner. We are in a well-established community where parents make time to be partners in their children's education. Our school currently has approximately 200 students enrolled from Kindergarten to Grade 8. We have a larger enrolment at the primary level and are, therefore, optimistic that our school will slowly grow in the coming years.

Prince Philip offers an excellent educational foundation in its regular academic programming for children in Kindergarten to Grade 8. Empathy and compassion are an everyday reality as we include students from the Junior and Intermediate Autism Support Programs in our daily school routines. These autism programs are offered to students who have a diagnosis of Autism or Pervasive Developmental Disorder and who are unable to function in a mainstream classroom.

At Prince Philip, we are committed to providing students with a safe and positive learning environment. Our motto, Do Your Best, suggests a very important element of education. It reflects the effort we encourage each of our students to put into his or her learning. Engaging students in their learning is the focus of everything we do at Prince Philip School. Students are encouraged and supported to become life-long learners, problem solvers and reflective thinkers. Assessment for Learning practices ensure that students are engaged and guided to continually progress. We take pride in working hard to motivate each student to do his or her best. Our staff is also dedicated to doing their best. By working together with students and parents, we strive to ensure that each individual student has the opportunity to develop to their full potential.

Prince Philip School has made a commitment to incorporate technology as a tool to enhance learning. Our goal is to develop powerful models of teaching and learning with technology. Our school is equipped with LCD players, Smart Boards, and wireless networks (in our library, Grade 5 to 8 classrooms, and computer lab). With our School Community Council's support, we are continually increasing the number of laptop computers in our school for student use. Podcasts, photo stories, wikis, blogs, and a virtual classroom are all strategies incorporated to support student growth at Prince Philip.

We are proud to offer a variety of extra-curricular activities to our students, from musical pursuits and environmental initiatives to outdoor educational camping and athletic teams. Students, staff and parents work co-operatively to provide these extensive learning experiences at Prince Philip.

The Golden Rule Preschool is located at Prince Philip. This program promotes the independence and social interaction of 3 and 4-year olds in a bright, clean and well-equipped classroom. Children are introduced to crafts, stories and activities and also have the opportunity to access our school gymnasium and library.

The Golden Rule Extended Day program is designed to meet the needs of families of Prince Philip School who have children in Kindergarten to Grade 8. The program operates daily from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

We look forward to working with you and your family as we share many learning experiences together! Please feel free to drop by our school. We would love to show your around and talk with you about the exciting programs we offer.
