The Collective Voice program at Aden Bowman, is an integrated program bringing together the subjects of English 9, History 9 and Fine Arts 9. The focus of the program is the history component which allows the class to study Indigenous people and cultures of the world. Throughout the year the Collective Voice class learns of diverse cultures throughout the world and the times. Each week the class produces a radio show on CFCR 90.5 FM, a community radio station. The radio programs center around cultural studies, issues and celebrations in Saskatoon and Canada. While producing the radio show the students take on the roles of producer, script writer, music director and technician.
Collective Voice is an independent style of learning where the students work in challenging academics of reading, writing, viewing, and presenting and are expected to work toward high standards. The students participate in engaging studies and work hard to meet those challenges within the relaxed atmosphere of a democratic classroom. Collective Voice gives each student the venue with which to share their own voice in today's world.
