About Our School

Upon entering Bedford Road, students and visitors alike quickly sense our schools abounding history. They are met by walls of hallways lined with photos of graduating classes, staff, and Student Representative Councils. They see trophy cases stocked with awards, and an Honour Roll of Bedford Roads 55 war dead. In all, tens of thousands of men and women are permanently and personally associated with the best of Bedford's 86 year-old academic, social, and sporting traditions. Ask any of our current students and staff, and they'll tell you that they feel it, too. And like those who came before them, they wish to add their chapter to the schools honoured past.

Bedford is home to over 600 students and staff. We offer programs suited to every type of learner. More and more programs are added each year. We offer programs for gifted and talented learners, a full range of academic courses (some of which are unique to Bedford), as well as many experiential programs in areas such as the arts, woods, athletics, textiles, food, theatre arts, choral, dance, writing, esthetics, and film-making. Bedford is preparing to join over 2,500 schools in 135 countries in offering the International Baccalaureate (I.B.) Program.

Bedford's Leadership Initiative assists each student in finding his and her own voice. Grade Nines and Tens attend leadership camps. Grade Elevens and Twelves take courses designed to inspire young citizens to action with social vision. Every year, since 1968, our students and staff have hosted the annual Bedford Road Invitational Basketball Tournament (B.R.I.T.), one of Canada's best known high school boys basketball tournaments.
