Parents can expect correspondence several times each year for: updates, report cards, school related concerns, and invoices. Parents are always welcome to connect with the Saskatoon International Education office. Please email SIE@spsd.sk.ca or phone 306-683-1010.
All students with a study permit are eligible to receive a Saskatchewan Health Card for free. This covers general doctor visits, hospital stays, and one eye exam per year. It does not cover dental visits, prescription drugs, or use of an ambulance. Additional health coverage is optional. Saskatoon International Education partners with Guard.me to provide top-up health coverage as an option.
The SIE Team will work with students during the Welcome and Orientation event, to complete a Saskatchewan Health Card application. Alternatively, students may apply for a Saskatchewan Health Card as soon as they arrive in Saskatoon. It may take 4-6 weeks for health cards to arrive. During this time, (after a health card application is submitted) students may use their passport to receive free Saskatchewan Health Services.
The Saskatchewan Ministry of Education determines what classes receive credits. The Ministry requires an official transcript for evaluation. School marks at a Grade 9 level or lower will not receive credit.
This is a document that students are required to bring for the Welcome and Orientation meeting. It is an official paper document containing school marks that has been dated and notarized. Emails, faxes, and photocopies are not official and cannot be accepted by the Ministry of Education.
Canadian immigration law makes it illegal for any person from an educational institution to provide advice or assist with a student's Study Permit Renewal/Visitor Visa renewal. Each school offers the same high-quality curriculum, taught by licensed teachers. Elementary students typically attend the school that is closest to where they live in Saskatoon.
