Programs for All

The following programs are available to students in both elementary schools and collegiates.

Brightwater Science, Environmental and Indigenous Learning Centre

The Centre provides unique land-based programming for middle years and high school students. Brightwater programming is an extension of classroom learning. It is delivered through the integration of a variety of curricular subject areas, is based on the ecological knowledge of native prairie landscapes, and honours Indigenous perspectives, content and ceremonies.

English as an Additional Language

Students who are learning English as an additional language may be eligible for support through EAL programming provided by a specialized EAL teacher at the school. Programming may vary depending on the needs of the student and the supports available at each school.

French Immersion

Saskatoon Public Schools' French Immersion program is designed for students whose first language is not French. The program uses French as the primary language of instruction and communication in the school setting to enable students to acquire functional language skills. Kindergarten and Grade 1 are the entry points for the program and it continues to Grade 12.

Home-Based Education

A home-based education program is a program based in the home, started and directed by the parents or guardians, for their own children between the ages of six and 17 years inclusive.

 Online Learning

Online learning offers Saskatchewan courses in an alternate delivery method to both elementary   and secondary school students. A flexible approach allows students to complete their course work   at any time of the day.

                       SAGE Gifted Education

SAGE is a congregated program for gifted students offered to Grades 5 to 8 students at     Greystone Heights, Caswell and Dr. John G. Egnatoff elementary schools, to Grades 9                   students at Walter Murray Collegiate and to Grades 9 to 10 students at Bedford Road                                                  Collegiate. Admission is by invitation or application.

 Saskatoon International Education

International education provides an opportunity for international students to study and learn   alongside Canadian students and for local students to improve their cultural awareness. What   started as a small program in one school (Evan Hardy Collegiate) has grown to welcome   international students from around the world to eight high schools and 47 elementary schools.

Special Education

Saskatoon Public Schools provides a continuum of services for students with special needs. Educational programs are provided in a variety of settings ranging from inclusion in the regular classroom to congregated settings.
