Message sent to Grade 12 students and families by the principals of Saskatoon Public Schools' collegiates
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As you know, graduation ceremonies are an incredibly important moment for students. It provides an opportunity to publicly recognize a student's 13 years of work alongside their friends and fellow students, and in front of their family, teachers, and community members.
Following the cancellation of classes in March, we had remained hopeful that graduation ceremonies would be able to continue. However, with the provincial government's continued restrictions on gatherings, in-person ceremonies won't be possible. Our school division has made the difficult decision to cancel all in-person graduation ceremonies for the 2020 class at all collegiates. This decision is heartbreaking, but it is made to protect the health and well-being of our community. The safety of our students, families, and staff members is paramount.
Our school and division staff are looking at a variety of ideas and opportunities to celebrate our graduating students and provide them with the well-deserved recognition for their incredible accomplishment. Please stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support during this unprecedented disruption. We are disappointed we won't be able to gather to celebrate our graduates as a community, but we will find a way to honour their hard work and achievement.
