North Park Wilson School will be home to a new artistic leadership program starting in September. Creative Action is a specialized, full-year program for Grade 8 students who have shown leadership potential and a desire to cultivate their passion in the arts to make a difference in their community and beyond.
"As a Centre of Excellence for Arts Education, North Park Wilson School is the perfect location for this unique learning opportunity," says Principal Kristin Siba. "Given our central location, we are uniquely situated to welcome students from across Saskatoon. Building on the school's established relationships with arts organizations in the city, this program will provide inspiring learning experiences for students to develop their artistic skills while fostering their distinctive voices."
Creative Action is aimed at students who want to enhance their education by honing their skills in one or more strands of the arts – music, dance, drama and visual art. Through creative expression, students will explore social justice issues to better understand their community and their role within it.
Grade 7 students from across Saskatoon Public Schools are welcome to apply for Creative Action. Completed application forms must be submitted to the school by May 1. A program committee will adjudicate each applicant and successful candidates will be placed in a lottery.
