Thank you for your interest in our program! Call 306-683-7550 for more information and inqueries about possible spots. We have limited spots in some grades for term 2.
In 2022/23 we will be offering English Programming to students in Saskatchewan (where the local school division doesn't offer an online option and/or the local school division is consulted).
Saskatoon Public Schools offers online learning for Kindergarten to Grade 12. Kindergarten to Grade 8 is offered out of City Park School as one of our unique programs.
The Online Learning Elementary (OLE) program was newly offered in 2020 and students use Google Classroom as the learning management system.
Online learning is different from home schooling and supplemental learning. Kindergarten to Grade 8 students will take all required Saskatchewan curriculum areas of study.
Students will be in classrooms by grade and will have a homeroom teacher. Students can expect to connect with their teacher(s) 'live' for a minimum of 150 minutes a day (75 minutes for kindergarten), in a combination of large group, small group, and individual online instruction between 8:55 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Elementary teachers will be available for support during the rest of the school day.
Virtual classrooms are comparable in size and composition to other in-person classrooms and will include students from a variety of schools and backgrounds. Students are potentially from various cities in Saskatchewan, but most live in Saskatoon. The exact composition of the virtual classroom will be based on enrolment and may contain multi-grade combined classrooms.
Online programming will be provided through both synchronous (the teacher online with the students at the same time) and asynchronous (students access course content on their own at any time with the support of a teacher when necessary) delivery systems.
If you have questions please call (306) 683-7550 for elementary program information or (306) 683-8313 for secondary program information.
Please find the OLE specific Family Handbook here 2022-23 OLE Handbook.pdf
The OLE is a unique program offered out of City Park School and therefore OLE students are City Park students. The City Park Family Handbook is also valuable to read and understand. Please find it here Family Handbook 2022-23.pdf
Students who are not Canadian citizens and who are new to SPS must contact the Newcomer Student Centre before filling out the registration form. Phone: (306) 683-8400 or Email: nsc@spsd.sk.ca
Student Technology Needs - Elementary
To take online classes, students will need access to a computer and the internet. A camera and headphones are also important. Any needed software is either free of charge or will be provided. Students in kindergarten to Grade 8 use Google Classroom as their learning management system and additional technology tools to facilitate learning.
For students with additional needs, the implications and challenges of delivering an individualized program in an online format need to be carefully considered and discussed with the child’s support team prior to enrollment. An online learning plan for students with additional and intensive supports will be developed with the online teacher, student support team and families as required.
