About
Mount Royal Collegiate's Cree Language and Culture program is for Grade 9 students interested in learning the y-dialect in a culturally rich learning environment. The program takes a holistic approach to learning that encompasses land-based education, fosters meaningful teacher-student relationships, and is led by a Traditional Knowledge Keeper and Cree/cultural teacher. Prior Cree language knowledge is not required.
Highlights
Students engage in culturally based activities while learning the Cree language.
Students receive guidance from a Traditional Knowledge Keeper and Cree/cultural teacher.
Students participate in land-based education that enhances learning and brings the curriculum to life.
Credits
Students in the program engage in all core Grade 9 requirements, including:
Career Education 9
Cree 9
Cultural Arts 9
English Language Arts 9A and 9B
Health Education 9
Math 9
Physical Education 9
Practical and Applied Arts 9 (technology or lifestyles)
Science 9
Social Studies 9.
