Tourism is offered at Nutana Collegiate which gives students the opportunity to build the foundation of a tourism career while staying in school. Students develop the skills needed for post-secondary education, for life-long learning and for work in the travel and tourism industry.
Nutana Collegiate is the only school in Saskatchewan that is part of the Canadian Academy of Travel & Tourism (CATT). Students at CATT schools are eligible to work toward certification recognized by the travel and tourism industry. Several Nutana students have received the highest level of certification (Gold) offered by CATT.
Students in Grades 10, 11 and 12 participate in the program and follow the regular provincial curriculum with a specialization in tourism. Classes in tourism, hospitality and entrepreneurship cover topics including food safety, employment and business opportunities, customer service and marketing.
In partnership with the Saskatchewan Tourism and Education Council (STEC), students receive program instruction and certification in Career Awareness, Service Best, Serve It Right and Tourism Essential Skills. Students also participate in work experience outside of the classroom.
