Nestled in the heart of one of Saskatoon's most established neighbourhoods, Pleasant Hill Community School serves approximately 150 Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8 students in a beautifully renovated building. Walk through our doors, and you will be struck by the beauty of the artwork that adorns our walls. You will feel the energy and activity demonstrated by those who learn and serve here.
Parents and caregivers frequently tell our staff that Pleasant Hill offers a safe, caring, and welcoming environment. Through various modes of instruction and extra-curricular activities, we endeavour to engage the heart, mind, body and spirit of learners, recognizing and nurturing the gifts and strengths of all. Our programs are offered in a manner that is culturally affirming. At Pleasant Hill, student learning is supported through quality instruction and extensive staff supports. Our literacy-focused programming supports students in developing essential reading skills.
A child's development is not the sole responsibility of a single individual or group, but rather a collective undertaking. We are proud of our relationship with parents, caregivers, and members of the Pleasant Hill community. Through community sharing circles, we routinely invite feedback and investigate ways to better engage students in their learning and involve community members in the life of our school.
Several partnerships have been developed at Pleasant Hill in the service of students and their families. Our staff members work closely with our school Elder, School Community Council, and Traditional Knowledge Keeper. Community organizations such as the Saskatoon Health Region and the Saskatoon Public Library partner with our school to offer special programs. Collaboration with the University of Saskatchewan's Colleges of Education, Nursing and Kinesiology also enhances our work with students.
In support of balanced and positive lifestyles, we are committed to values supported through the Nutrition Positive and In Motion programs. Nutritious and tasty meals are available to students at breakfast and lunch.
Students have opportunities to extend their learning through a number of extracurricular activities. A sampling includes:
