Maruauder Invitational Tournament tips off for 37th annual event

MIT News.jpgThe second semester off the high school year tips off Thursday with the 37th annual Marauder Invitational Tournament (MIT) that runs Jan. 30 to Feb. 1 at Walter Murray Collegiate.

Eight senior boys' and eight senior girls' teams representing 13 schools from throughout the city and across the province are taking part in the event.

Play begins with girls' action at 6:30 p.m. Thursday as the host Marauders take on the Aden Bowman Bears while the Evan Hardy Souls meet the Tommy Douglas Tigers.

Boys' games at 8 p.m. Thursday see the Marauders versus the Mount Royal Mustangs, while Aden Bowman takes on the Centennial Chargers.

Other teams taking part on the boys' side of the draw are Athol Murray College of Notre Dame, Prince Albert Carlton, Prince Albert St. Mary, and A.E. Peacock from Moose Jaw. The girls' side of the tournament also includes teams from Middle Lake, Lumsden, North Battleford, and Prince Albert St. Mary.

Games begin at 10:15 a.m. Friday and and run all day. Action on Saturday begins at 10 a.m. with the girls' final set for 6:30 p.m. and the boys' final scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
