EllisDon, the general contractor overseeing the construction of Willowgrove School, continues to make progress on this project. Recently they confirmed their intention to meet the following key milestones: School Division occupancy date of June 30, 2014 and school opening date for students of September 2, 2014. EllisDon has increased the project work team significantly, with a large number of sub-trade crews and general activity in all areas of the facility. All crews are working to achieve a school opening date of September 2, 2014.
Notwithstanding these efforts and intentions, administrative staff at Saskatoon Public Schools are concerned about EllisDon meeting its target dates. The school division believes it is important to discuss alternate accommodation scenarios for Willowgrove students. The goal would be to ensure that there is a reasonable back up plan in place for students and families on September 2, 2014, if the contractor fails to meet its target occupancy and school opening dates.
