Thank-you to everyone who was able to attend the Nov. 23rd information meeting. There were a lot of great questions that I tried my best to answer and a positive buzz in the air for the school to open.
If you missed our meeting, here are some of the topics we discussed:
- daycare (TBA in Feb. 2017)
- preschool (no preschools in any of the 4 new schools)
- transportation (no busing outside of Evergreen)
- facility (21st century learning, flexible spaces, large gym and 2 smaller community spaces, outdoor learning spaces, open concept) and is on time and on schedule!
- we are projected to start with 400-450 students and have room to grow to 750 students
- French Immersion options are very unlikely at this time
- Kindergarten teacher hired soon and Open House on Jan. 24th at 7:00 p.m. in Dr. JG Egnatoff's library
- Welcome Ms. Betty Stephan, the admin assistant who will start on Jan. 4th
- Miranda Low will start on Feb. 1st and will be in an office across from the Egnatoff preschool
- culture of the school: we get to create this together
- playground: we will have to fundraise for our new playground (approx: $350,000)
- registration is now open. We hope to have the majority of our students registered by March 1, 2017
