Queen Elizabeth School, which opened in 1954, provides families with the benefits of a tight-knit community in Saskatchewan's largest city.

Queen Elizabeth School is committed to providing a safe and caring environment that meets the needs of all students:

• Our kindergarten students attend full days (Tuesday, Thursday and alternate Fridays) and benefit from a play-based, academically rich program.
• Students in grades 1 to 8 receive differentiated instruction, with First Nations and Métis ways of knowing woven into and across all Saskatchewan core curricula.
• Our students receive instruction in physical and arts education from specialist teachers.

We offer a wide range of programs to customize your school experience, including:

• Band program for Grades 6-8
• Thoughtfully produced holiday concerts for all students
• Specialist supports: English as an Additional Language teacher, library technician, resource teacher, school counsellor, speech language pathologist, educational psychologist and community health nurse.

We also offer a variety of extracurricular opportunities for students, such as student leadership council, indoor recess on indoor days, spirit days, hot lunches, large school grounds with an outdoor rink, well-equipped gym and stage area, and a strongly supportive School Community Council and community association.

A Parent Perspective

"When we first arrived in Saskatoon, we were looking for potential schools for our five-year-old son. We received a suggestion to register our son at Queen Elizabeth School because it was near our home. However, I told the lady that because I had done some online research and talked to several people, I had another school in mind —one that was  highly recommended by some friends because it had children from all over the world. Furthermore, I told the lady that I had seen some pictures of Queen Elizabeth School on the internet, and because it appeared to be such a large school I was concerned with my son’s adaptation. The lady informed us that it was the opposite and suggested to us to pay Queen Elizabeth School a visit before making a final decision.

We must admit that we were pleasantly surprised from the moment we arrived at Queen Elizabeth School as we saw all the flags in the hallway and learned they represented the countries where the students came from. When we met the principal and the kindergarten teacher, and visited the classroom, we felt at home away from home. Needless to say, our son immediately fell in love with the classroom. So, after such a warm welcome, we decided there was no need to visit the other school. We filled out the paperwork and registered our son at Queen Elizabeth School.

As my wife volunteered at the school and got to meet and interact with the other teachers and staff on a daily basis, she further confirmed that we made the best choice for our son’s education. Now, as we are planning to move to a house, our top requirement is the neighborhood location, as we intend to keep our son at Queen Elizabeth School, where he is happy and receives a quality education."
