School Community Councils

School Community Councils (SCC) are comprised of elected individuals from the community who help advance the educational objectives of their school. Members representing each SCC meet regularly in an assembly to share ideas with each other and the school board.

The primary purpose of the councils is to:

  • Develop shared responsibility for the learning success and well-being of all children and youth
  • Encourage and facilitate parent and community engagement in school planning and improvement processes.

Parents/caregivers are encouraged to become involved in their School Community Council. School staff attend every meeting to talk about school-wide events, curricula, extracurricular activities, and to discuss issues of common concern to parents, students and staff.

Please contact your school for a meeting schedule. We look forward to your involvement!

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week

The Government of Saskatchewan typically proclaims the second week in February as Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week.

School Community Councils, in cooperation with Parent Councils, often make plans to show some extra appreciation for their school staff during this week.

SCC Assembly Meetings

Three times per school year, all school SCCs are asked to identify two representatives to represent their school at an all-school SCC Assembly. Dates and details are shared with SCC members on Edsby.
