Logo, team name illustrate our goals as a school community

April 09, 2018

Ernest Lindner LOGO.PNGThere is a lot of pride among students at Ernest Linder School and the school's logo does its part of to illustrate that school spirit.

As one of four new schools opened by Saskatoon Public Schools during the 2017-18 school year the development of a visual identity was one more milestone for Ernest Lindner students and staff.

The logo combines a shield and the school's lion mascot, but the unique team name represents much more.

"We chose 'The Pride' of Ernest Lindner as our name because it represents the goals of our school community in a number of ways," said Principal Mitch Kachur.

"First, we are proud that our school was named after Ernest Lindner, a teacher and nationally respected artist. Second, we are proud of the new school community we are building in the Hampton Village neighbourhood. And, most significantly, the lion mascot and The Pride name illustrate how we come together in learning and depend on each other as members of The Pride."

The lion mascot also includes a subtle nod to the career of the school's namesake — the tip of the lion's tail is a paint brush. It recognizes Lindner's 30-year career as an art teacher with Saskatoon Public Schools and his later success as a full-time artist whose work was exhibited across Canada and whose painting are found in galleries including the National Gallery of Canada.
