Our School
Welcome to Marion M. Graham Collegiate!
We would like to take this opportunity to tell you about the proud history of our school. Marion M. Graham Collegiate, located in the north end of Saskatoon, is a modern high school that serves nearly 800 students from across the city in both English and French Immersion programs. Marion M. Graham Collegiate opened in September 1984 with the attendance of Governor General of Canada Madame Jeanne Sauvé. The collegiate is named for a woman who devoted a lifetime of service to education in Saskatoon and significantly contributed to her community and country.
Marion M. Graham taught in Saskatoon for thirty years, after which she served as a member of the Saskatoon Public School's Board of Directors from 1967 to 1982. During these years, she worked tirelessly for the development of learning resource centres, a service that is now available to all students in Saskatoon Public Schools. Ms. Graham also devoted her energy to community life, working as a volunteer with many organizations, including the Air Cadet League of Canada, St. John Ambulance, YWCA and United Way. As a result of her involvement, Ms. Graham received many awards of recognition, including an appointment to the Order of Canada in 1977. Ms. Graham’s family motto was “Ne oublie” (Do not forget). Her life serves as a reminder to us of what constitutes an exemplary life: the importance of learning, service to one’s community, dedication to the lives of others and responsible citizenship.
At Marion M. Graham, we strive towards making everyone feel welcome and celebrate our diversity each year with flag ceremony and multicultural festival. The flags are displayed throughout the year in the library to honour the many nations represented at our school. We take pride in offering a well-rounded educational experience that focuses on excellence in the three A's: academics, arts and athletics.
- Academics: We are proudly committed to excellence and offer a strong academic program to meet the needs of all students. In addition to the core curriculum, we offer an array of electives that provide a strong base for future educational and career aspirations. Our diverse programming ranges from Functional Life Skills to Advanced Placement.
- Arts: We offer fine arts courses in band, choral, dance, drama, guitar, instrumental jazz, studio art and visual art. Our ever-popular musical theatre class culminates in a major musical production.
- Athletics: We offer a full complement of extracurricular activities, from intramurals at noon to competitive inter-school athletics after school. Our frosh, junior and senior athletic teams are a great source of pride for our school.
Our goal is to provide every student with the opportunity to learn at a level that is appropriate and challenging for them and supported by technology when applicable. The majority of our students pursue post-secondary education following graduation and many have received significant scholarships and awards from local, national and international institutions.
