Transitioning to Grade 9

Grade 9 is full of excitement and growth. You'll have the chance to meet new friends, choose classes that fit your interests, build on your unique skills, and learn more about yourself as you explore a new school environment. At the end of the year, we hope you'll look back and feel proud of everything you've accomplished!

At Saskatoon Public Schools, our collegiates have a place waiting for you. To get a sense of what our schools have to offer, we encourage you to watch the five-minute video at the top of this page and check out the Collegiate Handbook further down this page.

Our Secondary Schools

Grade 8 students can choose from 10 SPS secondary schools, each with unique offerings and school cultures. To learn more about these schools, click on the links below. See which electives and programs are offered by each collegiate in the handbook at the bottom of this page.

Collegiate Open Houses

Want to get a feel for a collegiate before deciding where to go? Visit one or more of our open houses in February (schedule to be posted in January). 

The Estey School open house typically takes place in spring. Please contact Estey School for more information.

Note: Nutana Collegiate does not hold an open house as their Grade 9 course offerings are specialized.

The division offers three unique programs specifically for Grade 9 students. Open houses are typically held for the following programs in February:

Register

  • Students attending Grade 8 at Saskatoon Public Schools will receive information to support their transition to Grade 9 at school.
  • Students not currently registered with Saskatoon Public Schools (for example, coming from another division) should use the 2026/27 Registration Form.
