November 15, 2020

wâhkôhtowin_news.jpgSaskatoon Public Schools, in consultation with the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), has decided to close wâhkôhtowin School temporarily as a result of a second positive case of COVID-19 and move to remote learning.

The SHA notified the school division about the second positive case on Sunday, Nov. 15. Due to the contact tracing investigation, the school is facing staffing challenges for continuing in-class learning. The school closure is effective immediately through Friday, Nov. 20, with the school reopening on Monday, Nov. 23. All students will be moving to remote learning for the duration of the closure.

Communication about the positive case and school closure has been shared with staff, the impacted classroom, and the school community. To protect the individual's privacy, no further details can be shared.

Public health officials have shared communication with individuals who are considered close contacts with the diagnosed individual. Risk of exposure to anyone who was not in close contact is very low.
