City Park School is a unique learning environment that is home to several of Saskatoon Public Schools' specialized programs.
City Park had a long history of serving students as one of the school division's collegiates. It was renovated in 2015 to create a home for several programs which attract students throughout Saskatoon.
The unique programs include: the Ecoquest Grade 8 Outdoor Classroom; the FLEX (Flexible Schedule, Blended Learning) Program for student athletes, musicians, and artists in Grades 6 to 12; and our school is also home to the school division's elementary Montessori Program for students in Grades 1 to 8 (Montessori philosophy and methodology is used to deliver Saskatchewan curricula).
City Park also hosts the school division's Secondary and French Immersion Online Learning Centre (OLCS), which offers courses in grades K-8 in French Immersion and both French Immersion and English programming for grades 9-12.
K-8 English programming for grades K-8 is offered through a different school called the OLCE.
K-8 French Immersion is new this year and students will be using Google Classroom as the learning management system. This program is different from home schooling and supplemental learning. K-8 students will take all required SK Curriculum areas of study. Students will be in classrooms by grade and will have a homeroom teacher. Students can expect to connect with their teacher 'live' for about 150 minutes a day, in a combination of large group, small group, and individual online instruction in grades K-8.
Grades 9-12 French Immersion and English Program students, who are either full or part-time online students, will choose from over 40 courses to achieve their high school diploma, and in the case of French Immersion their Bilingual Certificate as well. Grades 9-12 courses are delivered through Blackboard as the learning management system and our high school students will also experience synchronous learning throughout their courses.
