FLEX program expands to Grade 10 beginning in September

January 19, 2016

Flex Web.jpgStudents with a commitment to high-level involvement in athletics or the arts are combining their passions with education through the FLEX -- Flexible Schedule, Blended Learning -- Program located in the unique learning environment within the newly renovated City Park School.

The FLEX program, which is expanding to include Grade 10 for the 2016-17 school year, allows students in Grades 7-10 to participate in skill development outside of traditional school offerings while receiving a quality education in a blended learning environment.

It is designed to support students as they balance their education with athletic or artistic involvement outside of the school by providing a flexible school-day schedule. Students engage in their learning in an environment that helps foster independence and personal responsibility, with face-to-face instruction from the program’s dedicated teachers as well as online learning opportunities to accommodate alternate schedules.

Students currently enrolled in the program are pursuing their passions in areas such as dance, music, gymnastics, swimming, diving, and hockey. They have come from in and around Saskatoon to form a community of learners at City Park School with other students who also share their passion and level of commitment to personal pursuits in athletics and the arts.

Any current Grade 6, 7, 8 or 9 student who is committed to and dedicates significant hours to an arts or athletic program outside of school is eligible to apply for September 2016 enrolment.
