High School Carpentry Apprenticeship Program
Page Content
About
In the High School Carpentry Apprenticeship Program (HCAP), students experience all aspects of the residential construction industry by building a home themselves. They experience the enormous pride and satisfaction that comes from completing a major residential project. Students are guided throughout the home-building process by seasoned tradespeople from a variety of trades. HCAP students are building their future in the construction and carpentry industry. Students earn four credits in this program and can gain up to 640 hours towards their apprenticeship through the apprenticeship board and the Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship program.
Diverse Community
HCAP is open to all grades 11 and 12 students. Journeyman contractors work with students throughout the build of the home to oversee all stages and ensure national building code requirements are met. Students receive safety training and certification throughout the HCAP program to provide them with the proper safety measures to mitigate the risk of workplace-related injuries. These certifications support students in obtaining future employment opportunities in the skilled trades.
Equipment
All students will complete the Safety Construction Orientation Training online course. We ask that all students bring a 2G flashdrive/USB to class. All necessary safety wear is supplied, except safety work boots.
