BRIT tips off the new year at Bedford Road Collegiate

BRIT_news.jpgThe 52nd annual edition of the Bedford Road Invitational Tournament will once again tip-off the new year in style Jan. 9-11, 2020, at Bedford Road Collegiate.

Each year, a dedicated group of hundreds of student volunteers, school staff and other supporters come together to host an event that is considered one of Canada's top high school basketball tournaments.

This year's edition of the BRIT Classic brings together boys' teams from Saskatoon and across Canada. In addition to the host Redhawks, Saskatoon teams include the Walter Murray Marauders, Centennial Chargers, Holy Cross Crusaders and St. Joseph's Guardians. The rest of the field is comprised of:

  • Handsworth Secondary, North Vancouver, BC
  • Raymond High School, Raymond, AB
  • Sir Winston Churchill, Calgary, AB
  • Oak Park High School, Winnipeg, MB
  • Seminaire St. Joseph, Trois Rivieres, QC
  • Dr. Martin LeBoldus, Regina, SK
  • Winston Knoll Collegiate, Regina, SK

The event tips off at 12:30 p.m.  Thursday, Jan. 9, with the annual girls' exhibition game featuring the host Redhawks and Marion M. Graham Falcons. Tournament games begin at 2:30 p.m. with the Redhawks taking on Handsworth. Semi-finals are set for the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 11, and the championship final that evening beginning at 9 p.m. Admission is $20 for the tournament pass, $15 for a weekend pass and $8 for a day pass.
