Building Intercultural Resilience Mentorship (BIRM) is a University of Saskatchewan program that connects university students with Indigenous high school students to build relationships through shared experiences, interests and goals.
BIRM is structured as a wraparound network of inspiration and support for high school students, who have the opportunity to develop an intercultural relationship with their mentor. Students meet regularly with their mentor and the program coordinator to engage in leadership opportunities, career exploration, goal setting, land-based experiences and academic skill development. The program culminates with an all-expenses paid year-end trip.
