Sept 16 board meeting showcases Camp Brain Power

The Saskatoon Public Schools Board of Education held its first regular meeting on Sept. 16, 2025. Some of the items on the agenda included the impacts of Camp Brain Power, an overview of return-to-school activities, and new funding available through the Teacher Innovation Support Fund (TISF) to support teacher-led initiatives.

Camp Brain Power

Camp Brain Power is a one week FREE summer camp that focuses on literacy, movement, engagement, and well-being for students of Saskatoon Public Schools. It's completely funded by the Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation as part of their Early Learning Equal Start initiative that strives to have all students reading at a Grade 3 level by Grade 3.

At the Sept. 16 board meeting, we heard from the Camp Brain Power Coordinator, two teachers from this year's camp, and a family with two Camp Brain Power attendees. The parents called the camp a "game changer" for them. Their girls discovered a love of learning and embraced reading. They said their little learners graduated camp with new confidence and curiosity.
