Aspen Ridge elementary school

The provincial government has announced funding for a new elementary school in Aspen Ridge. The March 2025 budget announcement indicated that the preplanning for this school would be funded in the 2025-26 Budget. In July 2025, the government announced that early planning is underway with the release of the Request for Proposals for design services.

At present, elementary age students residing in the north development area of Aspen Ridge (northeast of Henry Dayday Road) can be bused to Willowgrove School (English programming) or École Silverspring School (French Immersion programming). Elementary age children living southwest of Henry Dayday Road can be bused to École Silverspring School for English and French Immersion programming.

Brighton elementary school

The provincial government announced funding for a new elementary school in Brighton in March 2024. In July 2025, the government announced that early planning is underway with the release of the Request for Proposals for design services.

At present, elementary age children in North Brighton (north of Westfield Road, Taube Avenue and Underhill Way) can be bused to Dr. John G. Egnatoff School (English programming) or École Forest Grove School (French Immersion programming). Elementary age children in South Brighton (south of Westfield Road, Taube Avenue and Underhill Way) can be bused to Roland Michener School (English programming) or École College Park School (French Immersion programming).

City Centre elementary school

In March 2020, the provincial government committed to fund a new, centrally located K-8 school to serve the communities of King George, Pleasant Hill and Riversdale. In June 2025, a ground-breaking ceremony was held at the school site to mark the start of construction. 

The King George School, which currently serves these communities, requires cost-prohibitive renovations that necessitate its closure.

Holmwood secondary school

The provincial government announced funding for a new secondary school in Holmwood in March 2024. Holmwood is directly adjacent to the Brighton neighborhood.

The existing secondary schools nearest Brighton are Centennial Collegiate and Evan Hardy Collegiate.

As of March 2025, a project design team was in the process of being selected. The next stage of the project will be design.

Kensington elementary school

The provincial government has announced funding for a new elementary school in Kensington. The March 2025 budget announcement indicated that the preplanning for this school would be funded in the 2025-26 Budget.

At present, elementary age children can be bused to Lester B. Pearson School (English programming) or École Dundonald School (French Immersion programming).
