Arts Fest celebrates 10 years!

Arts Fest is a taste of all that makes North Park Wilson School unique, in one fun evening!

The 10th annual Arts Fest will be held March 11, 2026. Families will enjoy a student art show, live music and dance, and a raffle with prizes donated by the community. The Grade 8 Creative Action class has also prepared nine different stations for younger students to try miniature art projects. Parents can make a donation to buy their child’s artwork on display - just like in a real art exhibition, a dot is placed on sold pieces’ title cards.

As students made the finishing touches on their art displays, they explained what makes Arts Fest so special to them:

Jacey, Grade 8:

"The purpose is to showcase the arts, to kind of raise awareness for arts education, and to fundraise so we’re able to buy supplies to continue art education. It means a lot because my whole life, I’ve loved teaching people things. I’ll be on the origami station and I love origami. It means a lot to me to show people those little things and to help them discover and find things that they enjoy."

Penny, Grade 8:

"Grade 8s have been putting up art. We’ve been preparing stations, because in Creative Action we have a bigger leadership role. We will teach younger grades how to do all these activities. I’m very happy to do leadership like this because I’ve always looked up to older students who do leadership. This is my first year at North Park which is more focused on art and leadership, so actually coming to North Park has been a huge, great thing."

Aria, Grade 3:

"We made felt flowers where we layer felt over felt and we put a button on top. My family will definitely be coming. It’s fun that there’s a bunch of different activities you can do and I like making lots of art."

Grace, Grade 8:

"I’ve taken part in Arts Fest 9 years. I think it’s very important because it shows my parents and me how I’ve progressed through the years with my art. My art isn’t just something I painted, it shows how I can symbolize something and it has meaning to it."

Steven, Grade 3:

"My parents and my sisters will come and see my art. I like looking at the art, I think it’s pretty cool!"

Maddy, Grade 8:

"I’m looking forward to all the stations and seeing everyone’s art, especially the kindergarteners’ – I think their art will be really cute. I’m helping in the character creator station, which is an idea I thought of. It’s basically like we cut out paper body parts like heads, arms, or clothes for animals or humans, and then they get to collage their own little character.

Arts Fest means showing other people, like your friends and family, that you’re growing in your art and maybe how to grow in their art. Showing that everyone can make art, no matter how big, no matter how small, Kindergarten to Grade 8."

Congratulations to Creative Action teacher Ms. Sheryl Salen, the Arts Fest planning committee, and all participating students on putting together an excellent community-building event!
