Award of Excellence
The Saskatoon Board of Education’s Award of Excellence is the highest honour granted by the board. This prestigious award is presented annually to the most outstanding Grade 12 graduate from Saskatoon Public Schools in the previous school year.
Secondary school administrators nominate their top student based on excellence in academics, character, leadership and engagement. From this pool of nominees, one student is selected as the Award of Excellence recipient; this student receives a $5,000 cash award, a certificate, and an installation at the board office. All other nominees receive a $500 cheque in recognition of their nomination.
Selection Process
A nominee is identified at each of our secondary schools. They are selected by that school's principal and staff.
The pool of nominees is then provided to the selection committee for review. The selection committee is established by the Director of Education and consists of five members including the Director of Education or his/her designate, one member from Administrative Council, one Trustee, and two others named by the Director.
The final selection is made after all final marks have been obtained.
