Growing support for students and families across Saskatoon Public Schools
As needs continue to grow, the Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation is working to ensure students and families have the support they need - both in and beyond the classroom.
One of SPSF's most visible initiatives is Canpotex Cheer Crates, a program that helps students and their families during extended school breaks. Ahead of this Spring Break, SPSF is preparing 750 crates for students and families across Saskatoon Public Schools. These crates contain food, personal care items, and family activities.
The demand reflects a growing need. With food insecurity affecting many families, requests for Cheer Crates and related nutrition supports remain high.
Full Day, Every Day Kindergarten
SPSF's work also extends deeply into student learning.
Full Day, Every Day kindergarten remains a key priority, helping young learners build the strong start they need for future success. In Saskatchewan, Full Day, Every Day Kindergarten is only offered at Saskatoon Public Schools, and it is not publicly funded. Thanks to the generosity of community donors, the Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation has been funding this program since 2019.
Early literacy support is also central to the work that SPSF does, including through Page Turners - SPSF’s flagship tutoring program for students in Grades 1 to 3.
By supporting reading early, SPSF is helping students build confidence and reach important milestones that can shape their long-term learning outcomes.
Supports for every classroom, at every stage of learning
At the same time, SPSF is looking at how it can continue supporting students as they move through school, including those who may need extra help with math and literacy at the high school level.
They also invest in Power Up Projects, which provide funding for creative and impactful ideas coming from classrooms and schools. These grants help educators bring learning opportunities to life, as well as scale up or grow successful projects to benefit a greater number of students.
"Spring for our Students Online Auction" - April 29 to May 4
Community support plays a big role in everything SPSF is able to accomplish.
From April 29 to May 4, SPSF will host its annual online spring auction, offering a terrific opportunity for people and organizations to get involved through sponsorship, item donation or bidding. Proceeds from the auction help fund Power Up Projects and other initiatives that support students across the division.
Through programs that address immediate needs and investments that strengthen learning, the Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Saskatoon Public Schools students and families.
