Student learning on Red Dress Day
May 5 is recognized as National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S), also known as Red Dress Day. On this day, we are encouraged to wear red to honour and remember missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit people. It is a day to encourage one another to take action for change.
Red symbolizes spirit, presence, and the visibility of those who are missing or have been taken. This day is not intended to stand alone, but rather to support ongoing learning, relationship building, and meaningful action within our schools.
