High school students begin year with full day of classes Sept. 3

August 07, 2019

Saskatoon Public Schools' collegiates are welcoming high school students and families back to school with the first day of classes set for Tuesday, Sept. 3.

New students in Grade 9-12 or current high school students who have not yet registered for fall classes should contact the Student Services office at the collegiate of their choice to book an appointment with counsellors.

Counsellors will work with students to select required and elective classes, check course prerequisites, prepare a class schedule and provide students and families with information about the school and its programs to ensure a smooth start to the school year.

Students who are new to Canada should contact the school division's Newcomer Student Centre at (306) 683-8400 for an appointment. Staff will determine a student's eligibility to study by looking at their immigration documents, assist with registration and assess the student's English language skills if necessary.

Saskatoon Public Schools' collegiates have open attendance boundaries, which means students may attend the collegiate of their choice, no matter where they reside in the city.

Our collegiates offer a variety of unique programs and learning opportunities in academics, the arts, technology and athletics. High school French immersion programs are available at Centennial, Marion M. Graham, Tommy Douglas and Walter Murray collegiates. The International Baccalaureate Programme is located at Bedford Road and Aden Bowman.

Nutana Collegiate offers Grade 10-12 classes on a quarter-year schedule that allows students to complete needed classes to graduate, upgrade their marks in a few courses, complete prerequisites for specific post-secondary programs, or meet final graduation requirements.

Royal West Campus offers a specialized program for adult students seeking to complete their high school education or upgrade their marks for entrance to post-secondary programs.

Learn more about each school and the unique programs offered at each school by reading our Collegiate Handbook or Unique Programs Handbook.
