Evan Hardy students sweep top honours in USask physics competition

ehciphysics_news.jpgStudents from Evan Hardy Collegiate had a clean sweep of top honours during the University of Saskatchewan High School Physics Scholarship Competition.

Mykyta Shvets and Yiping Xue won first prize, while Lingyi Mu was second and Hannah Rajput placed third. The 90-minute examination is based on the physics content in Saskatchewan's Physical Science 20 and Physics 30 curricula.

Of four honourable mentions awarded, three went to Evan Hardy students: Sebastian Bundrock, Hirokazu Miyashita, and Yanfei Zhu.

The competition, which is is composed by members of the Department of Physics and Engineering Physics at the University of Saskatchewan, saw 32 students from seven different high schools take part.

Winners receive scholarships of $250 for first prize, $150 for second, and $100 for third. The scholarships are awarded if the students enroll in any Physics, Engineering Physics or Astronomy class at the University of Saskatchewan any time in the next two years.
