Ward 5 By-Election

A by-election has been called to fill the vacant Ward 5 trustee office in the Saskatoon School Division No. 13 (Saskatoon Public Schools). The election will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The Ward 5 trustee position became vacant following former trustee Jennifer Scherman’s relocation to Toronto in summer 2026.

Candidate Eligibility

To be eligible for nomination as a candidate in the election, you must:

  • be at least 18 years of age;
  • be a Canadian citizen;
  • have resided in Saskatchewan for at least six consecutive months prior to the date on which nomination papers are filed;
  • have resided in the City of Saskatoon for at least three consecutive months prior to the date on which nominations papers are filed;
  • have all persons signing the nomination paper be eligible voters residing in civic ward 5.

Nomination Information 

Nominations for candidates for the Ward 5 trustee position will be accepted from September 9 to 23, 2026.

Nomination papers must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23 to Saskatoon City Hall's City Clerk's Office at 222 3rd Ave N. Nominations must be accompanied by a $100 deposit.

  • Saskatoon Public Schools Division Office, 310 21st Street East

Interim Trustee Representation

Until a new Ward 5 trustee is elected, Ward 5 schools have been temporarily assigned to other members of the Board of Education to ensure each school continues to have trustee representation:

  • Brownell School — Kirk Jones
  • Lawson Heights School — Anne-Marie Rollo
  • École River Heights School — Donna Banks
  • Silverwood Heights School — Ross Tait
  • École Silverspring School — Angela Arneson
  • Marion M. Graham Collegiate — Tanya Napper

Families and community members can continue to contact the trustee temporarily assigned to their school with questions or concerns that would normally be directed to their Ward 5 trustee.
