November 04, 2020

Saskatoon Public Schools educatonal assistants.jpgSupporting the school-day experience of students with special learning needs is the important work done by educational assistants.

Saskatoon Public Schools has an immediate need for educational assistants to add to the substitute list at both the elementary and secondary levels. Qualified applicants are invited to apply.

Applicants require a Grade 12 or equivalent standing, plus the successful completion of one year of post-secondary education in a related field. That may include certificate, diploma, or degree programs such as: Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Education, Youth Care Worker, Mental Health and Addictions, Disability Support Worker, Special Care Aid, Youth Justice, and Nursing

Educational assistants in both elementary and high schools help facilitate the delivery educational programming and  work closely with students to meet their behavioural, medical and personal care needs. They play a key role in helping students reach their maximum potential and level of independence.

Previous experience working or volunteering with students with special needs would be an asset. Applicants who are fluent in signed English and/or braille are encouraged to apply. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Persons of Indigenous ancestry are encouraged to apply as we strive to develop a representative workforce.
