Elementary Online Learning Centre (K-8)

SPS OLC logo Elementary.pngThe  Online Learning Centre Elementary offers full-time K-8 curriculum options in both English and French immersion as part of a fully online method.

  • Students in kindergarten to Grade 8 use Google Classroom as their learning management system and additional technology tools to facilitate learning
  • Online programming will be provided through both synchronous (the teacher online with the students at the same time) and asynchronous (students access course content on their own at any time with the support of a teacher when necessary) delivery models.
  • Elementary school students can expect to connect with their teacher "live" via Zoom for a minimum of 150 minutes a day (75 minutes for Kindergarten students), in a combination of large group, small group, and individual online sessions. Elementary teachers will be available for support during the rest of the school day.
  • Virtual OLC classrooms will be comparable in size and composition to other elementary classes in the division. They may include students from a variety of communities-including throughout SK. The exact composition of the virtual classroom will be based on enrolment and may contain multi-grade combined classrooms.
  • We know that multiple transitions throughout the school year adversely affect student success, therefore students should register until January 31, 2022, (the first of our two terms for the 2021-22 school year). If a transition is requested, the OLC will work to transition students as seamlessly as possible preferably at this time.
  • After January 31, 2022, elementary students will not be able to transfer between in-person and online programs for the remainder of the school year.

French Immersion

French Immersion programming is available in addition to the English online learning. There is a spot on the registration form to indicate your interest in French Immersion.

Newcomers to Canada

Students who are not Canadian citizens and who are new to SPS must contact the Newcomer Student Centre before filling out the registration form.  Phone: (306) 683-8400 or Email:

Students with EAL and or Intensive Needs

For students with additional needs, the implications and challenges of delivering an individualized program in an online format need to be carefully considered and discussed with the child’s support team prior to enrollment. An online learning plan for students with additional and intensive supports will be developed with the online teacher, student support team and families as required.
